She has won various solo piping prizes, including the Under 15 championship at Pitlochry in 1997, the Strathmore Open Piping Championship, and won the Piobaireachd and best performance at the Arbroath competition in 1999.

Heather was also the lone piper for Dundee to bring in the millennium new year in the city square, and won a scholarship to the Balmoral Piping School in the USA in 2000.

She states that her greatest achievement, however, is winning the dress and deportment prize at the MacKenzie Pipe band competition!
