Anne
has been mainly a solo player, and has competed on the solo circuit since
she was a junior. As well as being taught by those mentioned above, she
received a great deal of input from her mother, Reta Stewart of Maclean
Ladies. Anne has been Scottish Ladies Champion three times, and was the
first female piper to play in the Gold Medal competitions at the Argyllshire
Gathering and the Northern Meeting in 1976. She has won numerous prizes
over the years, but never quite got the big ones. She stresses she came
close though!
Anne was also PM of our Novice Juvenile band from 1996-1998, winning the
World Championships in 1998, and being Champion of Champions that year
also. You can read her "10 Questions" from Pipes|Drums
here. |
